In a healthcare environment with 135 beds, LVNs were tasked with manually reviewing client charts to monitor critical vitals such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and urinalysis (UA) results. This manual process, which took an entire day, was inefficient and error-prone.
To streamline this, we developed an automated Power BI dashboard stacked on top of PostgreSQL. The dashboard provided real-time, 5-minute refreshed data, displaying out-of-range vital signs and UA results with color-coded indicators for quick anomaly identification. This allowed LVNs to monitor all clients in just 5 minutes, drastically reducing manual effort while improving response time. The color-coded UA results further enabled LVNs to identify drug-related anomalies, particularly when clients were grouped into specific pods.
This solution transformed a daily, time-consuming task into an efficient, accurate process, freeing up time for more critical patient care tasks and improving overall workflow efficiency.
